Located just off the central Market, Waitrose Wantage opened it's doors for the first customers on Tuesday 24th September 1974.

The branch has a selling space of 817 square metres (8,798 square feet) and has nine checkouts located at the front of the shop. There are 75 car parking spaces available for customer use.

The dining room and rest room on the first floor has wood panelling on the walls and has been described as the best looking dining room in Waitrose!

The selling floor and the pavement outside are both slightly lower than the level of the road. Heavy rains, on the Thursday before opening, caused 6 inches of water to enter the shop. Fortunately it was during the day and Partners were able to move cartons of stock off the floor and no damage resulted.

Branch Manager, Mr K Blake, had previously been manager at Waitrose Brighton since it's opening in 1966.

The full address for this branch is 17 Wallingford Street, Wantage, Oxfordshire OX21 28BD
